Recacril® Marine Fabrics

Recacril® Marine fabrics are specifically designed for marine applications, including boat hoods, biminis, flybridges, and more.

Recacril® Marine is made from solution-dyed acrylic fibers, providing exceptional colorfastness and durability, even in high-salinity conditions typical of marine environments.

Infinity Plus Finishing Process

Recacril® Marine fabrics undergo an enhanced Infinity Plus finishing process to deliver improved water and stain resistance.

This advanced NON-PFAS finish gives Recacril® Marine fabrics a softer, more flexible feel compared to awning grade Recacril, allowing them to better conform to the complex shapes of nautical structures.

Recacril® Marine Warranty

RECASENS offers a 10-year warranty from the date of product installation covering Recacril® Marine fabrics against decomposition and fading. This warranty applies only to fabrics that are regularly maintained and used under normal environmental conditions.

At RECASENS’ discretion, they will either replace the defective fabric free of charge or reimburse the invoice value of the faulty section. This warranty excludes any additional costs or compensation.

As RECASENS canvases are components of the finished product, please contact your installer or distributor if you discover any fabric defects.

Warranty Exclusions

Warranty coverage applies to normal use and care. It does not extend to damage from, or repairs associated with, situations such as:

  • Improper maintenance or use of unsuitable products and tools, including detergents, chemicals, solvents, scrapers, or anything that can harm the fiber surface.
  • Normal aging and wear.
  • Atmospheric or chemical pollution.
  • Lightning strikes or unusual climatic and environmental conditions.
  • Soiling from animals.
  • Natural disasters, chemical spills, hanging objects, impacts on the fabric, road accidents, vandalism, burns of any kind, or fire.
  • Faulty product assembly or user mishandling, abuse, or neglect.

The warranty also excludes costs related to mechanical devices (hardware, mechanisms, structures), or manufacturing, assembly, installation, or repair expenses.

Maintenance for Recacril® Marine Canvases

The advanced Infinity Plus Process finish provides RECASENS canvases with protection against dirt, mold, along with excellent water repellency. This ensures marine tops and covers offer reliable protection from both sun and water for many years.

However, the accumulation of dust, airborne pollutants, organic materials, and general dirt can compromise this protection and shorten the fabric’s lifespan. Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential to preserve performance.

Routine Cleaning

  • Clean your canvas monthly using a low-pressure hose to prevent dirt buildup.
  • Important: Ensure the fabric is completely dry before closing or storing the cover.
  • The fabric can remain open during rain, as rainfall helps wash away dirt. If you must store the canvas while it is still wet, unroll it as soon as possible to allow thorough drying.

Thorough Cleaning (Every 2–3 Years)

  1. Gently brush off loose dirt and dust with a soft brush. Avoid stiff brushes that can damage the fiber surface.
  2. Rinse the fabric using a low-pressure hose only; high-pressure washing is not recommended.
  3. Prepare a solution of solvent-free soap in warm water (not exceeding 104ºF/40ºC) and apply it to dissolve dirt and debris on the fabric surface.
  4. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residues.
  5. Allow the canvas to air dry fully, tensioned and protected from wind, until completely dry.

Removing Fungal Stains

While Recacril® Marine canvases resist fungal growth, fungi may develop on embedded dirt. To remove fungal stains:

  1. Brush off loose dirt with a soft brush (never use stiff brushes).
  2. Prepare a cleaning solution consisting of 10% household bleach, 20% solvent-free neutral detergent, and 70% water.
  3. Apply the solution to the affected areas and leave on for a maximum of 15–20 minutes.
  4. Rinse thoroughly several times with clean water to remove all bleach residue.
  5. Air dry the canvas fully tensioned and protected from wind until completely dry.
  6. Repeat the process if needed.

Environmental Precautions

Please dispose of cleaning chemicals and wastewater responsibly. Bleach and other chemicals may harm plants, animals, and ecosystems.

Consumer information

RECASENS fabrics, Technical Textiles, are fabrics easy to maintain. The fabric surface is non-porous plastic, making it difficult for dirt to adhere but easy to remove.

Dirt accumulation can end up damaging the PVC canvas finish, causing accelerated deterioration. It is recommended to periodically clean the canvas to prevent rot and mold growth.

For effective cleaning, sponge out using soapy water and then rinse with clean water. Let dry the fabric positioned in a perfect tension.

We recommend using neutral (non-ionic) and a low percentage of alcohol detergents. Avoid using highly acidic or highly alkaline detergents and do not use solvents or bleaching agents such as bleach or hydrogen peroxide.

To avoid damaging the canvas finish, do not use chemicals or abrasive brushes or cleaning systems using water jets at high pressure.
